Whether the Starbucks release date of the PSL, the sound of crisp leaves under your feet on your walk to class, or the subtle shift from shorts to jean weather marked the start of fall on your calendar, grab your cozy flannels and favorite warm beverage, because Fall is kicking in! To get you in the mood for apple cider and pumpkin patches, here are 10 of our favorite Fall movies to watch with your best friends or that crush you’ve been dropping subtle hints at (I mean, it is cuffing season, so it’s time to shoot your shot). These are the favorites in order from one to ten with a couple of honorable mentions, but feel free to watch them in whatever order makes you feel all the Autumn feels.
- “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”
A childhood staple for many and a cute movie everyone will be down to watch, Charlie Brown and his friends remind us of staple fall activities, including pumpkin carving, apple bobbing, and dressing up in spooky costumes.
- “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”
All Harry Potter fans know the eerie presence of the Dementors, cute pumpkin patch scenes with Buckbeak, and heart-pounding moments hiding from a bloodthirsty werewolf are perfect for the spooky season.
- “Coco”
What isn’t there to love about an adorable little boy exploring the land of his ancestors while singing songs you’ll listen to on repeat for weeks? This movie is perfect for warming the heart as the seasons change, with its beautiful message, tear-jerking plot, and bright colors.
- “Rudy”
Here’s to the American football fans who would be lost without their fantasy leagues and game-day parties. “Rudy” is the perfect movie to touch the hearts of our beloved Dips as it tells the story of a football player with big dreams.
- “Halloweentown”
‘Tis the season for witches on flying brooms and casting spells, so get in the spirit with another childhood Disney classic, “Halloweentown.”
- “Clueless”
What screams Autumn more than plaid outfits, back-to-school drama, and falling in love? This classic rom-com is the go-to for a night of laughs and definitely a couple of happy tears.
- “Dead Poets Society”
Speaking of tears, this movie will make you CRY, so make sure you have a shoulder on standby. Still, it is a must-see Robin Williams classic and has the sweater-weather vibes you’ve been craving.
- “Fantastic Mr. Fox”
Something about stop-motion animation and this color palette ~screams~ Autumn. “Fantastic Mr. Fox” is a must if you want to get in the mood for all things fall.
- “Casper”
I bet you almost forgot about this little ghost who supplies maximum spooky vibes in the best way possible. This throwback set in a haunted castle will transport you to your younger spooky-season-self.
- “New Moon”
While not a personal favorite, the fall vibes are absolutely there, and Twilight Saga fans will undoubtedly play this movie at the first feeling of crisp air.
While these are the top 10 favorites, it would be a tragedy not to mention a couple of others that’ll put you in that fall mood. Movies that might serve as nightmare fuel for some but equally serve autumn aesthetics include “BeetleJuice,” “Coraline,” and “Gremlins.” If you’re searching for more nostalgic or cute fall movies, try out “Hocus Pocus,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “The Addams Family,” “Ghostbusters,” or “E.T.” Finally, for those of you looking for more classic movies, “Good Will Hunting” and “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” have cozy autumn vibes you’ll love. I hope you enjoy this list of fall favorite movies and are planning a fun get-together with your friends or a relaxing self-care night soon. Happy Fall season!
