F&M COVID-19 Dashboard Notes

  • Two of the positive test results in Entry Testing Round 1 were false positives, meaning the test picked up residual traces of the virus because the student was infected prior to campus arrival. These students are no longer contagious. Excluding the false positives, the number of entry testing round 1 positives is 4, which is 0.3% of students in-residence or commuting, and the cumulative positive tests since arrival is 7, which is 0.5% of students in-residence or commuting.
  • The number of students in quarantine and isolation is not the same as the number of positive COVID-19 cases. Currently, of the students in quarantine, 4 are symptomatic and waiting for test results; 12 are asymptomatic and quarantining as a result of contact tracing. As test results are received, the College will continue to provide the latest number of positive COVID-19 cases at F&M in the PORT weekly report.

Pandemic Operations Updates

  • We have successfully completed arrival testing round 1 and round 2 for students. All students with negative test results have been released from quarantine. Students who did not initially partake in entry testing are in mandatory quarantine until they receive a negative test result.
  • The College will conduct the first round of surveillance testing on Thursday, September 10, and conclude surveillance testing for the fall term on Wednesday, November 4. Last week, we notified those students who have been randomly selected for required participation in the first round of surveillance testing. If you were notified and have not yet signed up for your testing timeslot, please do so immediately using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805054eafa829a2f94-910
  • Last week, the College also conducted its first round of wastewater testing; there was no indication of the presence of COVID-19 at five sampling sites, all of which are associated with residence halls.

Campus Reminders

  • Masks must be worn in public spaces on campus. Public spaces include any indoor space where others may use the space with you or after you and all outdoor spaces on campus. This policy applies even when you are alone and / or physically distanced. The only space where masks can be removed is a private space, such as a bedroom or personal office space.

Updated information is always available for your convenience on the fall 2020 reopening plan website.
