LANCASTER, Pa. – The Japanese Program at Franklin & Marshall College is celebrating a “Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival” on Saturday, March 29 to share Japanese culture, traditions and community with the public.
The festival will feature such performances as Yosakoi & J-pop dance, Taiko drums and Iadio, swords arts.
Located inside Mayser Gym, the event features booths for Origami, calligraphy, face painting, ring toss game, water-ballon fishing and photos.
Festival goers can experience Japanese culture including kimono wearing, kendama (traditional Japanese toy) and a chopsticks game, and mochi making and Bon-odori or Bon-dance.
Tomoro Mizuno, a ceramic artist from Japan, will exhibit his works and speak about them at one booth
Sakura Festival T-shirts will be available for purchase.
Free and open to the public, the Sakura Festival is 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at Franklin & Marshall College’s Mayser Gym. Parking is Williamson Parking Lot or College Avenue.
